Early Career Programs

SaxoChiLD is dedicated to addressing the particular need for early career scientists entering translational pediatric research by offering various high-quality programs to empower students and scientists across all disciplines/stages of their career with skills and competencies, accounting for diversity, independence, and equal opportunities.

Clinician Scientist Programs
The medical faculty of the Leipzig University offers a Clinician Scientist program. The Else Kröner research seminar in Dresden provides young physicians a structured residency education including enough room for clinical and basic research.
PhD programs
The Dresden International PhD Program (DIPP) a joint venture of the MPI-CBG and the Dresden International Research/Graduate Schools for Biomedicine, competitively recruits postgraduate medical scientists. The UFZ Helmholtz Interdisciplinary GRADuate School for Environmental Research (HIGRADE) provides a coherent framework for qualifying new generations of internationally competitive doctoral researchers in the field of environmental science.
Post-doctoral support
The UL Leibniz Program supports international mobility on all graduate career stages with the Leibniz-professorship, inviting international visiting scientists and promoting stays abroad. The Leipzig Researcher Development Pro-gram and UFZ´s career center promote career development to scientific independence and leadership positions for postdocs. HI-MAG builds on three Independent Young Investigator Groups as modules for translational research and a career step towards a professorship. Similarly, excellent independent junior research group leaders may be awarded TUD Young Investigator status to enable the supervision of doctorates independently from senior scientists. The “Future Career Program: Business” offers training for scientists who plan a career in outside academia.
Research Academy Leipzig
The Research Academy Leipzig is the central service institution responsible for promoting early career researchers at Leipzig University.
Master's programs
The Leipzig University offers a Master’s course in Clinical Research & Translational Medicine and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Research. The TUD has established several international master´s programs in biomedical research. For instance in Regenerative Biology and Medicine.
